6998. ZZ Top - I Heard It On the X
![]() |
| From: Fandango!; Year: 1975; Genre: Southern Rock/Blues Rock |
Wow, a whole new, fresh, and unused month starts today; let's start it in style.
Actually had this short, but sweet tune from the 'Tres Hombres' from Texas on my mind the last couple of days; of course, you know wot that means....
The "X" they are referring to on this track is the now silent "Border Blaster" radio station out of Mexico: XEROK-AM, aka X-Rock 80. From wot I understand, the station was actually quite popular north of the border and on favourable nights could be heard across the Southwest U.S.. A little trivia: here in the U.S., unless the radio/television station is older than the law and thus grandfathered in, all broadcast stations east of the Mississippi River have their call letters start with a "W", and those west of the river have theirs start with a "K." As far as I am aware Mexican broadcast stations' call letters, as with XEROK start with an "X." As far as I'm aware, Canadian stations begin with a "C" or "V," but I am not well versed on them.
