Song 412 ( Jim Croce - Rapid Roy (The Stock Car Boy) )

This song just popped into my head this morning and I knew I had to pick it. Jim Croce is one of the best character lyricists ever; a lot of his work chronicle incidents or snippets of the lives of these characters, i.e. Bad, Bad Leroy Brown, You Don't Mess Around With Jim, Roller Derby Queen, and such. This one is about a daredevil early NASCAR dirt track racer who, like most early racers learned to drive by running moonshine. This song is very deceptive musically, it seems at first to be quite a simple song, but if you listen closely there is a lot chord changes and little runs that make it quite interesting.

Here is the studio version on YouTube.
