876 ( Adam Gilberti - Dragon's First Flight )
876 ( Adam Gilberti - Dragon's First Flight )
I ran into this very interesting song a bit ago and just had to add it to my list; it is one the most interesting and new sounding songs that I have heard in a while.
This piece was composed by Adam Gilberti for a quartet of contrabass saxophones. When someone conjures the image of a saxophone you get the image is a hand held instrument with the classic "J" shape of the popular tenor or alto sax. However just like most other orchestral instruments there is an entire family of saxophones. For those who are not aware of the nomenclature, the contrabass is larger and lower pitched than the bass or baritone saxophones. This quartet is actually composed of two contrabass saxophones and two tubax; one contrabass and the other subcontrabass, which is pitched even lower yet.
Apparently the video was deleted by whoever uploaded it, sorry.
