I felt like some more 1980s prog rock this morning; I thought with absolute certainty that I had chosen something from Pendragon, but apparently not. So... why not pick one of their songs today? Right... although whilst they had material released prior this track is from their first proper album. It definitely has a lot of the sounds and feel from that zeitgeist that is 1980s prog rock; synth and such, but delivers in its own unique way.

From: Terrapin Station ; Year: 1977; Genre: Progressive Rock ¡Doh! I cannot believe that I missed my Memorial Day Grateful Dead pick; I guess better late than never. For some reason unbeknownst to me I just felt like putting on Terrapin Station again; immediately was welcomed by this rather strangely made track. From: Here's to the People ; Year: 1991; Genre: Cool Jazz/Jazz Fusion Most into jazz and associated genres are most likely aware of the passing of jazz giant Sonny Rollins a couple of days ago. It is just so mind-blowing to think of all the music, musicians, and history he experienced in his 95 years on this Earth, let alone all of the decades he was active. To think, that he took a large part in and saw all the new forms of jazz and the people he played with. It is a rarity to see an active musician touring for so many years, especially in jazz live so long. He definitely will be missed and then some. Anyway, I had a lot of music from many eras to choose from for this song pick. Anyhoo, those who are into older classics or grew up back when this one was on mainstream radio will immediately recognize it. 1426 Ome Henk - Neem Een Ander In De Maling (Barbie Girl) From: Ome Henk Laat Zich Niet Kisten! , Year: 1997 Genre: Comedy/Parody Max is currently in the midst of a theme week about songs misattributed to "Weird Al" Yankovic. Almost a year ago I did a theme week based on one of my pet peeves of a similar nature: songs misattributed to the German group Rammstein . Anyway, with Max doing his theme week it brought this track back from the recesses of my brain and I figured it would make an excellent pick. When I saw this song credited to Rammstein it almost made me bang my head against my computer's screen. I mean, for crying out loud in the dead of the night, it sounds absolutely nothing like Rammstein and it's sung in Dutch, not German!
