Today is a Funky Friday, but for some reason I had the music of Ed Bogas on the brain, so I went ahead and perused the soundtracks he composed. And of course, the Fritz the Cat soundtrack was an obvious choice.
Now, I noted that this song was recorded by some band call The Innocent Bystanders, however, internet searches are pure desolation except for two bands with similar names that have formed way after 1972, so they apparently cannot be the ones who laid down this track. This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style.
