Surprised once more that I had not yet chosen a song.
Fame, both the film and theme song, have seemingly always been in the pop culture in some manner ever since it was released. For me it was one of those songs I grew up with and has elements from the waning years of disco as well as heavy to the gospel sound with the overall full chorus backing up Irene Cara as well as the call-and-response technique that works so well.

This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. From: Automatic for the People ; Year: 1992; Genre: Alternative Rock Gosh, this one really rattles some memories loose for me, not only was it from my pivotal early teenage years, but it was also quite the piece of music and quite popular; rightly so. They might've been one of the preeminent alternative rock bands, but their influences really came through on this one.
