Had a lot of Queen's music on my mind throughout most the day, so I figured it would be rather nice to end the day by picking one of their songs.
For some reason the music off of A Night at the Opera seemed to be where I gravitated the most. There are quite a few tracks I like off of the album, but for some reason this one just felt right. I really like the way that Brian May and the rest of the band delivered this Science Fiction story in a Folkish style.

From: Martika ; Year: 1988; Genre: Pop Since the other day I've had this track on my mind, which is another that I have not heard in decades. It's weird how certain songs will play almost like you are actually listening to them; this is one of them. Could still remember the chord progression, words and the instruments' sounds. Anyway, back in the late 1980s, (basically when I was a pre-teen/young teenager), I remember hearing this one a lot as well as a handful of other songs from Martika. If I remember correctly she was kind of already a household name prior to her recording debut with her acting career on a few films and television shows. Apparently Martika drew weary of life in the spotlight and the music industry in particular; she walked away after a few years and then reemerged about a decade later. From: Dancing on a Cold Wind ; Year: 1975; Genre: Flamenco Rock/Progressive Rock Was enjoying this album once again yesterday; I thought I would choose another from it. Don't have very many left to pick from on this disc, or any of their others. Such a shame that they existed for such a transient time and with only three releases.... I knew Pete Townshend wrote and sung on this track, always thought there was a recording of it on a Who album too, but I guess I was in error. I learned of Blue Mink through the works of bass great Herbie Flowers, who is among my favourite masters of the musical instrument. I wanted to pick this funky number, which was a single from just prior to the band calling it quits. Kind of neat how, even with them being a successful band, they continued with their side work of being session musicians during Blue Mink's run. This one begins side two, which more or less places it in the middle of the story. Musically The Needle Lies is a fast-paced and hard hitting metal track that really compliments the point in the tale where Nikki confronts the nefarious Dr. X and tells him that he and Mary are leaving. 1318 Queensrÿche - Fear City Slide From: Operation: Mind Crime II, Year: 2006 I've been heavily enjoying Queensrÿche's Operation: Mindcrime II album lately; this is one of many tracks that I absolutely love off of the album. This concept album is a continuation of the story begun on their '88 Operation: Mindcrime album. I can just imagine what the music critics were like when they first heard about this album: a concept album from a Progressive Metal band? They must've went completely apoplectic.
