6493. Lalo Schifrin - Mission: Impossible
![]() |
| From: Music From Mission: Impossible; Year: 1967; Genre: Jazz |
Saw Lalo Schifrin's name come across my news feed a couple days ago; of course, as expected, we lost another legendary composer and musician. While I could list the extensive breadth and depth of film scores and seemingly endless recordings from his discography, I thought that I would pick one of his most known and famous compositions. Suffice it to say that the majority of the people of Earth have heard at least one of his pieces of music.
Anyway, even without the title, from the first couple of notes you'll instantly be taken mentally into the series and films of the franchise, which have used it regularly. Heck, without this theme music it just wouldn't be Mission: Impossible. To top it all off he had the famous First Call Gang, or Wrecking Crew to play it, so it was bound to be memorable.
Rest in Peace Maestro.
