I made it another year with this pick today. Back in 2007 on this day I started this blog on a social site called MySpace and in '09 I moved it here; it's getting hard to believe that I've been at this for eight years now.
Anywho, this is an extremely beautiful motet piece for eight voices, and there's a good chance you've hear the melody to this song; it's quite memorable.

      Thanks! It's amazing to me too; I just keep plugging away a day at a time. I've always got a song playing in my mind, (a reference to Woordenaar's blog there, but is true of me too). Wot's really amazing for me personally is with all of my internet troubles I've always found a way to make the post some way.

      You definitely should get a blog going again; you already have a Google account, so you basically have everything needed to start again. :D

    Eight years without a missing day, amazing. I only started a half year later I just found out, but have only posted 1371 songs. Seems like I've missed a day or two ;-)

      Thank you very much! I'm just as surprised too; I never thought I'd make it this far and without missing a song. But, now it's gotten to the point where I couldn't imagine not doing this blog anymore.

738 ( The Allman Brothers Band - In Memory of Elizabeth Reed ) I am need of some Allman Brothers music this morning and I remembered this nice Jazz Fusion track from their Idlewild South album. What is so awesome about the earlier Allman Brothers music is the fact that they had not one, but two guitar legends in the group. This instrumental was an excellent vehicle for showcasing both Duane Allman's and Richard "Dickey" Betts' amazing skills on the guitar. 1258 Jethro Tull - By Kind Permission Of I've had this track on my mind, so I figured it would be a nice Friday pick. This is essentially a 10-minute John Evans' keyboard solo with a bit of Ian's flute; it was recorded live at Carnegie Hall in late 1970 and later appeared on their compilation album: Living in the Past . It was one of two songs on the album that were recorded live, the other being Dharma for On e ; both of these songs together took up an entire side of one of the two records. Apparently the song got its title, ( By Kind Permission Of ), from John Evans borrowing sections for the song from some famous classical pieces and for obvious reasons could not procure permission to use them from the original authors. The pieces he used were, I do believe: Claude Debussy's Golliwog's Cakewalk , Rachmaninov's Prelude in G Sharp Minor , and Beethoven's Sonate #8: Pathétique . Hear By Kind Permission Of on YouTube. From: Stardust (soundtrack) ; Year: 1974; Genre: Rock Apparently this song came was the title-track to the film of the same name, which Essex starred along side Keith Moon, David Edmunds, Adam Faith, and Larry Hagman amongst others. It apparently centered around a fictional group call the Stray Cats, (not to be confused with the real-life rockabilly band led by Brian Setzer), throughout the turbulent 1960 and the trials and such that went along with the characters. Funny enough, apparently Lowdown Popcorn is the only studio recording on this live double album; they just added reverb, echoes, and crowd noise to make it fit in with the rest of the material on it.
