Been meaning to pick more from XXV, which is the continuation of their epic The Sentinel. The story told throughout the songs on the record this time are quite dark and ominous; whereas The Sentinel is a story of a destroyed world told as a warning to mankind, this one tells the tale about how humans did not heed the warnings, turned to greed and pride, and as such are facing oblivion. This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. From: Automatic for the People ; Year: 1992; Genre: Alternative Rock Gosh, this one really rattles some memories loose for me, not only was it from my pivotal early teenage years, but it was also quite the piece of music and quite popular; rightly so. They might've been one of the preeminent alternative rock bands, but their influences really came through on this one.
