6349. Dio - God Hates Heavy Metal
![]() |
From: Angry Machines (Japanese Edition) ; Year: 1996; Genre: Heavy Metal |
Growing up during the "Satanic Panic" and the subsequent flat-out lies and false accusations about metal music and related genres, I can really related to this song and the counter-argument that Ronnie James Dio and the rest of the band stated here. Sad part is that many of the artists on the top of the "moral hit list" were actually more religious than the majority of those coming from their lofty perch telling the blatant lies. Even as a youth I was able to see through it, which made me all the more skeptical at anything those in their faux moral position pontificated on.
Anyway, enough negativity.
This song was initially only released as a bonus track on the Japanese release. Eventually though it was released as a single 25 years later, but at least we finally got another awesome song in the end.
