Had Kool & The Gang on my mind the last couple of days, so I thought I'd make one of their funky tracks today's pick.

This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. They might've been one of the preeminent alternative rock bands, but their influences really came through on this one.
