Say what you like about James Brown, but the man would not leave an ounce of energy behind after a performance; he always gave the audience their money's worth and then some. Even in the studio this was evident; you still, 40+ years after the fact can still hear and feel that energy when you drop the needle/press play. On this album in particular it is all the more in your face with legend Melvin Parker on drums, who was essentially the genesis of funk as we know it.
