6559. John Denver - The Game Is Over

For being such an admirer and fan of his work, I have never really paid much attention to this record. I dunno why, maybe it's the dreaded sophomore album curse, with the successor being his massive breakout and its predecessor being quite a strong outing. With the majority of the contents being covers could also be a factor, but I thought I should really delve back into it.
This is one of brightest gems in my opinion; I love the sparse accompaniment that beautifully contrasts with the overall sadness and heaviness of his voice and guitar/chord choices in this rather emotional piece concerning the parting of ways, bringing a close relationship to an end.
