This track has been running through my mind ever since late yesterday when I experienced first-hand the utter lunacy of another person.
This song, while more about the idiots blindly following those in authority, just fits my mood perfectly. What I have always loved about Frank Zappa's songs is that while they are comedic in nature, much of the time there is a sociological/political element and/or a deeper moral to the story. What is actually saddening and scary at the same time is how often he hit the nail right on the head.

This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style.
