I'm squeezing some time in to get my pick in on this very busy day.
Anyway, once again my song pick number hit upon a date concerning another artist that I like: Frédéric Chopin, who was born in the year 1810. So, after I realized that I went ahead and decided to pick one of his songs for my 1810th song pick.
This is one of his songs that I like quite a bit; it is a rather interesting piece in many ways. To describe it, it's like a very technical dance song, kind of a mix between a Bolero, as the title states, and a Polonaise.

Wot the Marx Brothers did musically is seemingly timeless and is enjoyable to people born more than a century after release. Don't have very many left to pick from on this disc, or any of their others. Such a shame that they existed for such a transient time and with only three releases.... Don't know why I haven't chosen one of Eagle-Eye Cherry's songs yet, but I guess I will start with what is his biggest hit. As with many, many artists and bands, over here in The 'States he is erroneously labeled as a "one-hit wonder." He has actually scored a number of hits in other parts of the world, most notably European nations; chiefly his native Sweden. 815 ( ABBA - I Let the Music Speak ) This one has been running through my mind for over a month now, it seems like an excellent pick for today. This is one of their most intricate songs that I have heard both musically and lyrically. It is amazingly arranged: very brooding with a classical waltz feeling in the verses and then builds in the pre-chorus and, (with the signature ABBA hook), it launches into the chorus, then it brings you back down. The song's subject is about a musical artist going through the creative process of putting feelings to music, treating the music as a living entity in almost the context of a lover. As you can probably tell I'm not at all in favour of the move. I tried the software about six months ago and absolutely hated it; ever since I first saw the notification that this was taking place I dreaded it. I don't know what it is with these services who take a simple, easy to used, streamlined interface and "add" new features that only serve to make the blog posting process a messed up pain in the arse. From: Seven the Hard Way ; Year: 1985; Genre: Rock This song has been literally running through my mind off and on for about two weeks now; as I usually do I am making it my pick. I grew up with Pat Benatar's music, and I can say even though some of her songs are over 30 years old, most have aged incredibly well; including this track. Her powerful voice that is potent in any range only adds to the empowering aspects of this song; that and the straight-forward thundering guitar, bass, and drums are what makes this song as good as it is. From what I understand this was the theme song to a film called The Legend of Billy Jean ; I've never seen or heard of it before, I might have to check it out for the soundtrack alone.
