From: Is This a Cool World or What?; Year: 1981; Genre: Rock
After not hearing this song for well over 15 years it popped into my mind today and I immediately knew I wanted to pick it today.
Many might not know who Karla DeVito is, but there is a huge chance that you have heard her; she's been a lead/backup singer for many artists, most notably Meat Loaf amongst many others.
This album and song in particular has a very theatrical feeling to it, much like Meat Loaf's albums. This song about an infamous female pirate sounds kind of like a Bond theme at the beginning and then slams into the much harder sound and then comes back down and includes a chorus of pirates singing. It's still one that always brings a smile to my face when I hear it.

Hear Bloody Bess on YouTube.
