Picking a song from one of my all-time favourite bands today; for the last few days I have not really felt like listening to music, but I've been forcing myself to do so. Hopefully I can get the feeling to go away soon by listening to some of the music that I really identify with.
Anyway, this one's got it all from the band; nice folky and acoustic feeling in the beginning and then heavier as the song goes and has a very brooding feel through most of it.

This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style. Also David Crosby and Graham Nash add some backing vocals, also Harvey Brooks on bass and other Jefferson Airplane alumni Grace Slick and David Freiberg as well.
