Had this very fun album come on while I was out and about the other day and knew I needed to revisit it on my blog. Almost every aspect of Lakeside's Party Patrol stirs memories; not really of the album per se, but of the sound that it represents so well. That blend of the band's brand of electronic funk with the new jack swing beats that were so prevalent back in the '80s and '90s is absolutely perfect if you are in the mood for nostalgia from that time.

From: In a Sentimental Mood ; Year: 1989; Genre: Swing/Big Band Jazz Had this song on my mind since yesterday; quite a catchy and upbeat track to say the least. This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. From: Automatic for the People ; Year: 1992; Genre: Alternative Rock Gosh, this one really rattles some memories loose for me, not only was it from my pivotal early teenage years, but it was also quite the piece of music and quite popular; rightly so. They might've been one of the preeminent alternative rock bands, but their influences really came through on this one.
