5975. Donovan - Riki Tiki Tavi
From: Open Road; Year: 1970; Genre: Blues Rock/Psychedelic Rock |
Kinda hard to believe that it has been about 15 years since I chose my last track from Donovan apparently; that was a long while ago....
Anyway, this song, obviously, takes inspiration from Rudyard Kipling's short story about the mongoose named Rikki Tikki Tavi from his epic collection of stories: The Jungle Book. In his blues rock piece inspired by the titular character, he uses Rikki symbolically to call individuals to action instead of waiting/expecting someone else to "slay the cobra" so to speak.
