Amaranth is probably my favourite song off of Nightwish's Dark Passion Play album; it was actually their first album I purchased other than a Greatest Hits compilation prior. The song and album did take a little bit to grow on me; after putting it on shuffle a few times I came to like it.
The music video to the song is one of their better ones in my opinion; from what I understand it was inspired by a painting called The Wounded Angel by artist Hugo Simberg.

From: Terrapin Station ; Year: 1977; Genre: Progressive Rock ¡Doh! I cannot believe that I missed my Memorial Day Grateful Dead pick; I guess better late than never. For some reason unbeknownst to me I just felt like putting on Terrapin Station again; immediately was welcomed by this rather strangely made track. From: Here's to the People ; Year: 1991; Genre: Cool Jazz/Jazz Fusion Most into jazz and associated genres are most likely aware of the passing of jazz giant Sonny Rollins a couple of days ago. It is just so mind-blowing to think of all the music, musicians, and history he experienced in his 95 years on this Earth, let alone all of the decades he was active. To think, that he took a large part in and saw all the new forms of jazz and the people he played with. It is a rarity to see an active musician touring for so many years, especially in jazz live so long. He definitely will be missed and then some. Anyway, I had a lot of music from many eras to choose from for this song pick. 1426 Ome Henk - Neem Een Ander In De Maling (Barbie Girl) From: Ome Henk Laat Zich Niet Kisten! , Year: 1997 Genre: Comedy/Parody Max is currently in the midst of a theme week about songs misattributed to "Weird Al" Yankovic. Almost a year ago I did a theme week based on one of my pet peeves of a similar nature: songs misattributed to the German group Rammstein . Anyway, with Max doing his theme week it brought this track back from the recesses of my brain and I figured it would make an excellent pick. When I saw this song credited to Rammstein it almost made me bang my head against my computer's screen. I mean, for crying out loud in the dead of the night, it sounds absolutely nothing like Rammstein and it's sung in Dutch, not German!
