6036. Smash Mouth - Father Christmas

From: The Gift of Rock; Year: 2005; Genre: Christmas Music/Hard Rock/Punk
This raucous tune originally by The Kinks has to be among my top five contemporary Holiday songs. I've always loved how it has upbeat and in-your-face punk aspects with a very deep and poignant message, whist just underneath for most of the song, but gets sprung on you in full exposition at the end.
Anyway, since lead singer Steve Harwell's passing back in September I have found myself listening to Smash Mouth more often. I really felt like I needed to choose their cover of this classic this year before the Season is over.
