It is another one of those times where I had a song that I had not heard or thought about in many, many years just pop into my mind. Quite a sensual song, which is probably some of the appeal, along with Maria Muldaur's voice and the jazzy music. It was a pretty big song throughout the '70s and I personally heard it a lot in the 1980s and into the 1990s, but sadly, I really would have to look for it today; not in a lot of media as of today. This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style.
