I've always liked this track and enjoy it every time it comes on, but I've never really paid attention to it or its lyrics; absolutely love the music. I was surprised, however, to discover it to be a spiritual song rather than some love song; to be honest I thought "Kyrie" was referring to someone, I suppose I was correct in a manner of speaking. Kýrie is actually a Greek word and in the meaning of the words spoken at the beginning of each line of the chorus: "Kýrie, eléison" apparently means "Have Mercy On Me, Lord" and is used many times throughout the Bible and is a popular prayer over many millennia.
Anyway, it really brings the song into context when reading the lyrics and shows just how deep and profound the song is concerning a struggles throughout the journeys, trials and tribulations one faces during ones own "passion play."
