6378. Three Dog Night - Chest Fever
![]() |
From: Three Dog Night "One"; Year: 1968; Genre: Psychedelic Rock/Hard Rock |
Back in the day when first hearing this track off of a recently purchased cassette tape I did not immediately like it, but it grew on me. As with much of Three Dog Night's repertoire, this is a cover; it was originally written and recorded just a few months prior by The Band on their debut album. Coincidentally, this was also Three Dog Night's debut, so they must've got cracking on their version, which was slightly heavier musically. I do not know how the song did overall, but it was also released as the b-side to their monster hit One. I have to say, they did a bang-up job on it, especially keyboardist Jimmy Greenspoon, who did an excellent job interpreting Garth Hudson's exquisite organ work and solos.
