I felt like putting some Styx on this morning; I also figured one of their songs would make an excellent pick for today. I felt like something earlier in their catalogue; Equinox seemed like a nice one to pick from. Equinox was the first Styx album I ever bought; if I remember correctly I picked it up at a thrift shop for about 10¢.
I have always loved their music quite a bit; I grew up with it and stayed a fan. I love how dynamic they can be in a single song; as with many of their songs this one goes from a classical sound/feeling all the way up to hard rock and back again plus most everything in between.

From: Recycler ; Year: 1990; Genre: Blues Rock Yesterday I saw that ZZ Top drummer Frank Beard passed away. Recently I saw that they had to cancel some shows and I wondered if someone was not doing well; sadly, my suspicions ended up being correct. I knew that I should choose another one from the group today. Whilst they are not one of my top favourites, I have always liked their music and enjoy it every time I hear it. Anyway, Forgive is one that Tommy Shaw and Lawrence Gowan share the lead vocals and perform some amazing harmonies; you can definitely hear some Beatles influence in those harmonies amongst others. BWV 225 ; Year: 1727; Genre: Baroque Period/classical I made it another year with this pick today. Back in 2007 on this day I started this blog on a social site called MySpace and in '09 I moved it here; it's getting hard to believe that I've been at this for eight years now. Anywho, this is an extremely beautiful motet piece for eight voices, and there's a good chance you've hear the melody to this song; it's quite memorable.
