Having a pretty busy day today, so I am making a somewhat of a quick pick for the third day of my "Also Known as Rammstein" theme week. Again, these are musical artists whose songs get erroneously credited as being from Rammstein on the internet.
Anyway, here is a sometimes misattributed track off of Unheilig's '03 album Das 2. Gebot; it is also one of my favourite tracks off the album.

Musically The Needle Lies is a fast-paced and hard hitting metal track that really compliments the point in the tale where Nikki confronts the nefarious Dr. X and tells him that he and Mary are leaving. From: Martika ; Year: 1988; Genre: Pop Since the other day I've had this track on my mind, which is another that I have not heard in decades. It's weird how certain songs will play almost like you are actually listening to them; this is one of them. Could still remember the chord progression, words and the instruments' sounds. Anyway, back in the late 1980s, (basically when I was a pre-teen/young teenager), I remember hearing this one a lot as well as a handful of other songs from Martika. If I remember correctly she was kind of already a household name prior to her recording debut with her acting career on a few films and television shows. Apparently Martika drew weary of life in the spotlight and the music industry in particular; she walked away after a few years and then reemerged about a decade later. I love bands like these where they are essentially a "supergroup," but instead of already successful musicians joining forces, these are successful musicians in the making that would go on elsewhere for it. I learned of Blue Mink through the works of bass great Herbie Flowers, who is among my favourite masters of the musical instrument. I wanted to pick this funky number, which was a single from just prior to the band calling it quits. Kind of neat how, even with them being a successful band, they continued with their side work of being session musicians during Blue Mink's run.
