Oomph!'s Plastik album has been getting a lot of play from me this morning and I figured that I would choose one of their songs today as well.
This track features the vocal work of the incomparable Nina Hagen; I've always loved her amazing vocals. She performs an excellent duet in this song with Dero Goi; their vocals compliment each other quite well.

From: End of the World ; Year: 1968; Genre: Psychedelic Rock From time to time I go back to Aphrodite's Child and their gorgeous music; I'm glad I did last night once more. Rain and Tears , which was their first big hit and was particularly popular in Italy and across northern Europe; I do not know how it did on this side of "The Pond," but if it didn't we really missed out. Evangelos Papathanassiou (aka Vangelis) and Boris Bergman wrote this piece around the overly used motif of Johann Pachelbel's famous Canon in D, P.37 . Immediately you will recognize the melody, but once they start to introduce and reintroduce their themes and vocals, their musical masterwork embellishes around the skeletal motif into something really amazing and beautiful. 1297 Vangelis - Blade Runner (End Titles) Dies ist Tag zwei of my theme week of picking songs from dormant or dead song a day blogs. This pick comes from The Heuristics Inc. or Bill's song a day blog ; it was pick #251 , posted on the 9th of July, 2007; (that would be a couple of months prior to me starting my own song a day blog.) BWV 225 ; Year: 1727; Genre: Baroque Period/classical I made it another year with this pick today. Back in 2007 on this day I started this blog on a social site called MySpace and in '09 I moved it here; it's getting hard to believe that I've been at this for eight years now. Anywho, this is an extremely beautiful motet piece for eight voices, and there's a good chance you've hear the melody to this song; it's quite memorable. From: Fearless ; Year: 1979; Genre: Glam Rock Damn, we lost another legend within a day of one another. Tim Curry is an actor and performer that I admire a lot. There are too many roles I loved over the years to list; but suffice it to say: the man was brilliant at his trade. Ever since 2012 he's been wheelchair bound due to a severe stroke and a variety of other maladies since, so it is probably a nice release for the suffering acting legend. He will be really missed even with his extensive film, stage, musical, and other endeavours he had worked on. Anyway, some might not have known that Tim Curry had an actual recording career outside of the film and stage musicals that he performed on. I believe he recorded a total of three records from 1978 to 1981 with Fearless being the one in the middle. From: Rush ; Year: 1974; Genre: Hard Rock It's my first pick of 2013, but I'm still picking songs that were released the year that coincides with my song pick number. This rather bluesy track hails from Rush's debut album released in the year 1974. As I've said before, they are one of my favourite bands; there's a lot I love about their music and it seems that I'm not alone. Over the years they have taken quite a bit of hammering from a quite a few people, mostly critics and those who take those critics' words as gold. However, despite this they've kept going and continued to sell with over 20 consecutive gold albums, 14 of which have gone platinum or multi-platinum and are now about to be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
