The other morning this track just started playing in my head; another one of those cases of not hearing it for some 30 year or so and it emerged from the recesses of my mind I guess.
Anyway, it's by no means an accident that Want Ads and the rest of the music on this record sounds like it came straight out of Motown's Hitsville U.S.A. music factory. Hot Wax/Invictus Records were the first companies that the legendary writing and production team of Holland-Dozier-Holland embarked on after leaving Motown. Want Ads in particular evokes a most definite Jackson 5 style and sound, which all the more makes it such a pleasant track to behold, especially those bass and drums, not to mention the great vocal talent.
