I thought I would keep this 'Beastie' mini theme going one more day with this song off of Aphrodite's Child's Prog Rock Concept album based on The Book or Revelation, aka 'The Apocalypse of John.'
In my opinion this is actually an excellent and quite an underrated album in so many ways. I love how many of the songs contrast with one another, yet still flow quite nicely. The main draw for me on the entire album, however, is, of course, the compositions and amazing musicianship from Vangelis and company. I love the bluesy feel and the funky groove they used on this track in particular.

This concept album is a continuation of the story begun on their '88 Operation: Mindcrime album. I knew Pete Townshend wrote and sung on this track, always thought there was a recording of it on a Who album too, but I guess I was in error. From: Martika ; Year: 1988; Genre: Pop Since the other day I've had this track on my mind, which is another that I have not heard in decades. It's weird how certain songs will play almost like you are actually listening to them; this is one of them. Could still remember the chord progression, words and the instruments' sounds. Anyway, back in the late 1980s, (basically when I was a pre-teen/young teenager), I remember hearing this one a lot as well as a handful of other songs from Martika. If I remember correctly she was kind of already a household name prior to her recording debut with her acting career on a few films and television shows. Apparently Martika drew weary of life in the spotlight and the music industry in particular; she walked away after a few years and then reemerged about a decade later. I learned of Blue Mink through the works of bass great Herbie Flowers, who is among my favourite masters of the musical instrument. I wanted to pick this funky number, which was a single from just prior to the band calling it quits. Kind of neat how, even with them being a successful band, they continued with their side work of being session musicians during Blue Mink's run. 815 ( ABBA - I Let the Music Speak ) This one has been running through my mind for over a month now, it seems like an excellent pick for today. This is one of their most intricate songs that I have heard both musically and lyrically. It is amazingly arranged: very brooding with a classical waltz feeling in the verses and then builds in the pre-chorus and, (with the signature ABBA hook), it launches into the chorus, then it brings you back down. The song's subject is about a musical artist going through the creative process of putting feelings to music, treating the music as a living entity in almost the context of a lover.
