From: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road; Year: 1973; Genre: Rock
For most of the day various songs from this monumental record has been on my mind, so, yes... another song from it!
I have always really liked this double-album and often play it almost without skipping a track. I've never been too sure wot the story is about this song, but it both bemused me and gave a sense of mystery as to why he or Bernie Taupin never bestowed a title to it. I know the album was recorded in about two weeks or so, so maybe it had something to do with that.
Anyway, I really like the sparse accompaniment to Elton John's piano playing and vocals, but every time they add something it's darn-near perfect for the situation. The beauty of this track in both the singing and playing makes it one of the highlights for me from the record.
