I heard these three songs that open up the epic Pink Floyd album The Dark Side of the Moon at some point yesterday and I happened to notice that I hadn't picked them yet. Well, seeing as how they are among my favourite songs from Pink Floyd I thought I would go ahead and pick them. While they are actually individual tracks on the album they are almost always played together, even on the radio, so I figured it would be best to do so with my pick as well.

Tools is a short, but sweet acoustic track that really acts like a "cooldown" to bring the album to a close, especially after the previous epic and energetic song The Eagle and the Hawk . However, whilst I've never really followed the band closely, this one has had a unique impact on myself with having someone so close to my age pass away.  Enough about that now; as you probably surmised and already know, Brad Arnold, singer/songwriter for 3 Doors Down lost his battle with cancer. At least this time I knew the name of the band that recorded it, so that really expedited the process of finding it again. 1411 Nightwish - Last of the Wilds (Erämaan viimeinen) From: Dark Passion Play , Year: 2007 Genre: Symphonic Metal/Folk Metal Been meaning to pick another Nightwish track for a while now. This is quite a neat track, the Uilleann bagpipes really add a lot to the sound. The song actually has two versions: Last of the Wilds is an instrumental, which was released worldwide on their Dark Passion Play album. Erämaan viimeinen is essentially the same song with vocals sung in Finnish; this version apparently was only released in their native Finland. 2015 Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO) - Take it Like a Man

From: Head On ; Year: 1975; Genre: Hard Rock I felt like listening to some BTO this morning; I hadn't listened to their Head On album in a while, so that was the one I chose. While it was not really that commercially successful as their others, this is one of my top favourite albums from BTO. As with most of their other albums it was designed really well; the songs are arranged so well that it is best to play the disc through from beginning to end; each song seems to compliment its predecessor as well as its successor. Anyway, this has always been among the highlights from the record; I believe it was also the first single from it. As always Randy Bachman and the others are excellent, but I especially like Rob Bachman's drumming in particular on this song. An interesting fact about this track is that Little Richard played the piano throughout the song. Hear Take it Like a Man on YouTube.
