About anybody who's been alive for the last 30 years has probably heard this song, and it's one that often just under the surface of my mind just waiting to bob its head up and "earworm" me, like today.
The opening Titles from Chariots of Fire is one of those film scores that actually eclipsed the film it was made for. I love the mix of piano and traditional musical instruments with full-blown synth; definitely a song for the ages.

This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style.
