I've been meaning to pick one from Al Di Meola lately; finally getting around to it. This is more or less an exposition of his and his guest musicians' prowess, but is still very listenable to those who want to rock out. The Wizard is one of the more hard rock based instrumentals on the album with a good dose of jazz in there for good measure.

This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style.
