I seem to be gravitating towards music of the late 1960's the last few days it would seem.... All I can say is that I am glad that this band and Tom Rapp both broke into the music scene back then; I really doubt they would have by, say, the '80s and later. Tom Rapp was and is a very underappreciated and definitely an underrated singer/songwritter/etc; I am just overjoyed that I discovered his and this band's music. This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style.
