When out and about yesterday I was listening to music from this album and I thought it would be great to pick another track from it.
This, the first and title track on the record, can be viewed more or less as an overture for the album, but is also a great clinic in music by the band members. I especially love their use of bass-heavy synth on this one with the steel guitar.

This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style.
