The Friday of the Funkiness doth approacheth me in this, the time of posting my blog of music; I must take heed and listen to the words and syncopated bump rhythm of Sir George Clinton and his champions, including Bootsy the Great in their merry band Parliament.
Anyway, this is a fun one that'll for sure put a smile on your face and a bounce in your step. Most who are not into funk might also be remembered as the base for Digital Underground's Humpty Dance, from which they sampled the main groove.

From: In a Sentimental Mood ; Year: 1989; Genre: Swing/Big Band Jazz Had this song on my mind since yesterday; quite a catchy and upbeat track to say the least. This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style.
