Upon hearing this song for the first time if you didn't know any better you'd swear it was written and recorded in the early/mid 1970s. It has all the hallmarks of the classic hard rock sound of that era, but it is from the current decade. All can say is that C.F. Turner's voice hasn't lost any of its soulful punch; neither has the band lost its soul.

This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style.
