Don't know why, but felt like picking this rather "groovy" late 1960s track today from the husband and wife duo Friend & Lover. It is kind of interesting the dichotomy of the joyous and upbeat nature of this and other songs from this time period contrasted with all of the societal upheaval, violence, and death surrounding this time.
Sadly, both Jim and Cathy post passed away a few years ago, but they did leave a lasting legacy. Also, comedic songster Ray Stevens played keyboards and arranged the strings on this track.
Some may be "too cool" to listen to this one, but they are missing out, but the chorus definitely will earworm you something terrible.

738 ( The Allman Brothers Band - In Memory of Elizabeth Reed ) I am need of some Allman Brothers music this morning and I remembered this nice Jazz Fusion track from their Idlewild South album. What is so awesome about the earlier Allman Brothers music is the fact that they had not one, but two guitar legends in the group. This instrumental was an excellent vehicle for showcasing both Duane Allman's and Richard "Dickey" Betts' amazing skills on the guitar. From: In a Sentimental Mood ; Year: 1989; Genre: Swing/Big Band Jazz Had this song on my mind since yesterday; quite a catchy and upbeat track to say the least. This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style. Also David Crosby and Graham Nash add some backing vocals, also Harvey Brooks on bass and other Jefferson Airplane alumni Grace Slick and David Freiberg as well.
