Cannot remember off the top of my head when was the last time I picked a song from Molly Hatchet; quite a while I'd reckon....
Here's one off the record I was listening to yesterday; I have to remark that the majority of the music on this album does not sound like the band. In fact if I did not own it I would not know it was Molly Hatchet. Backstabber in particular reminds me somewhat of Van Halen from the same time, other than that it just is kind of run-o'-the-mill '80s top 40 hard rock; not really in a remarkable way though. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style.
