Another year coming to a close...today's my last song pick of 2016. I'd like to get deeper, optimistic, or even have a feeling of dread of the coming year, but it just seems like another day; the sun goes down, the sun comes up....
Anyway, was listening to this excellent album recently and really wanted to choose another song off of it.
When the Wild Wind Blows has a captivating story set to amazing music with a lot of intricate sections; a very deep and satisfying piece to close out such a marvelous record.

This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style.
