For some reason today I've had a bunch of Billy Joel's music on my mind; as normal, I'm taking it as a sign I should choose another song of his today. I grew up hearing this record a lot, including this track, which is very catchy and fun to listen and/or dance to. You can definitely hear a Beatles influence throughout the tune, but a lot of Billy Joel's own sound as well.

This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style.
