5703. The Noteables - Funky Frog
From: Movements Vol.8; Year: 2016 (1968); Genre: Soul/Funk |
Bemused by the title of this song, I had to make it my pick for this Funky Friday. There's a lot to like about this short and sweet funky soul piece, except for one glaring detail: it pretty much music and structure wise is a copy/paste of James Brown's massive hit Papa's Got a Brand New Bag. Despite this, (or perhaps because of this), it's a real fun song to play in any setting from dance floor to headphones; you'll be dancing for sure in any case.
