The other day I learned of this album and supergroup's existence; I know it's been out already for a few months now, but I'm not a person who has his finger on the pulse of new music and/or sometimes I'm slow on the uptake even when it comes to things I really enjoy.
Anyhoo, for others like myself whom may not be aware, this is a project by members of bands who made up the Seattle grunge scene back in the early-mid 1990s. With alumni from the likes of Soundgarden, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, amongst others you would kind of figure out what they sound like. However, they are not a Temple of the Dog for the 2020s; their sound is actually fairly unique, but blended with that familiar grunge you've been hearing for about 30 some odd years now.

738 ( The Allman Brothers Band - In Memory of Elizabeth Reed ) I am need of some Allman Brothers music this morning and I remembered this nice Jazz Fusion track from their Idlewild South album. What is so awesome about the earlier Allman Brothers music is the fact that they had not one, but two guitar legends in the group. This instrumental was an excellent vehicle for showcasing both Duane Allman's and Richard "Dickey" Betts' amazing skills on the guitar. 1258 Jethro Tull - By Kind Permission Of I've had this track on my mind, so I figured it would be a nice Friday pick. This is essentially a 10-minute John Evans' keyboard solo with a bit of Ian's flute; it was recorded live at Carnegie Hall in late 1970 and later appeared on their compilation album: Living in the Past . It was one of two songs on the album that were recorded live, the other being Dharma for On e ; both of these songs together took up an entire side of one of the two records. Apparently the song got its title, ( By Kind Permission Of ), from John Evans borrowing sections for the song from some famous classical pieces and for obvious reasons could not procure permission to use them from the original authors. The pieces he used were, I do believe: Claude Debussy's Golliwog's Cakewalk , Rachmaninov's Prelude in G Sharp Minor , and Beethoven's Sonate #8: Pathétique . Hear By Kind Permission Of on YouTube. From: Stardust (soundtrack) ; Year: 1974; Genre: Rock Apparently this song came was the title-track to the film of the same name, which Essex starred along side Keith Moon, David Edmunds, Adam Faith, and Larry Hagman amongst others. It apparently centered around a fictional group call the Stray Cats, (not to be confused with the real-life rockabilly band led by Brian Setzer), throughout the turbulent 1960 and the trials and such that went along with the characters. From: Sex Machine ; Year: 1970; Genre: Soul/Funk Don't know why, but just felt like picking something from "The Godfather of Soul," James Brown. Funny enough, apparently Lowdown Popcorn is the only studio recording on this live double album; they just added reverb, echoes, and crowd noise to make it fit in with the rest of the material on it.
